Woman Faces Murder Charge in Stabbing Death
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman faces murder charges in the death of a man in a Kansas City apartment last week, prosecutors said on Monday.
DeAngela M. Alexander, 39, faces second-degree murder and armed criminal action charges in connection to the death of Robert S. Batchlor, 33, in an apartment near 24th and Hardesty on April 5.
According to court documents, Alexander was in the apartment with her boyfriend and Batchlor. When her boyfriend left to go to the store, she and Batchlor had an altercation. When the boyfriend returned, Alexander says that he began hitting Batchlor with a hammer. She then grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Batchlor twice, then fled the apartment.
Authorities say that neither Alexander or her boyfriend called for medical help for Batchlor, who was found dead on the floor just inside the apartment.
Alexander is in custody at the Jackson County Jail, and prosecutors have requested a cash-only bond of $250,000.
There is no word of any charges against her boyfriend, who has not been identified.
