FRISCO, Tex. -- A six-year-old Texas girl is happy to be back at school after her battle with Cancer. Students, faculty and community members organized a parade for Libby Serber.
Serber returned to Isbell Elementary School is Frisco. The first grader spent the last two weeks recovering from surgery to remove a kidney and cancerous tumors from her heart.
Her mother said her illness was sudden and unexpected.
"She had a low-grade fever for three weeks," said . "We were told it was just a fever virus -- a fever virus," said Cara Serber, Libby's Mother
Lbby has recovered enough to return to class for a day. She wore a crown as she greeted her friends. The crowd's cheers showed just how much fellow
students missed the girl. Her family says that support may warm Libby's heart as well as heal it.
"We need to keep her strength up and things like this and knowing we have that type of support is exactly what we need to keep Libby Lou going," she said.
Libby will begin Cancer treatment knowing her community is behind her. Knowing that as well as having a good prognosis from doctors, the six-year-old has a bright future ahead!
