RAYTOWN, Mo. -- A number of parents in the Raytown School District have a lot to say now that prosecutors have charged a 16-year-old boy with forcible rape and forcible sodomy. The boy, who was 15 at the time, is accused of pulling a 13- year-old girl into a room or closet in late February at Raytown Middle School.
Police say the boy allegedly grabbed the girl's hair and pushed her onto some mats where he sexually assaulted her. Officers took the boy into custody on Monday. He's being held at the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center.
Tony Infranca's son is a student at Raytown Middle.
"I have a lot of concerns," Infranca said. "You hope there's nothing like that going on and nobody's making a story like this up."
Next fall Aimee Smith's 11-year-old daughter will attend Raytown Middle.
"I feel for both families, the young suspect's relatives and the family of the 13-year-old girl, he's accused of sexually assaulting," Smith said. "It's just a loss for both."
On Wednesday a detention hearing will be held for the suspect.
