OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- An Overland Park woman is upset because she ended up becoming a victim of a crime after trying to do something nice for a stranger. Now, she's buried in paperwork because of the situation.

The 62-year-old woman was shopping at a Walmart near 92nd & Metcalf. A stranger asked for her help in picking out some food for his mother and she didn't hesitate. What she didn't know it was a distraction for an accomplice to take her wallet.

She says they got away with $1,300, most of which was a bonus from work and her credit cards. Surveillance pictures show a black male and female using the stolen cards. Police say they went to Nordstrom and bought $800 worth of shoes and then racked almost $3,000 in electronics at Target and Best Buy.

The victim finally got everything cancelled but she's still dealing with the paperwork and extremely frustrated by the situation.

"It's a hassle," the victim said. "You know I work hard for my money like everyone else. I would have given them you know...but to just come in and steal from you and take right out of your billfold."

The thieves got away with another $8,000 charge at Target in Mission but the card had just been canceled. The final tally was $1,300 in cash and $3,500 in fraud charges.

If you recognize the suspects call the Overland Park Police at (913) 895-6300 or the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
