KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A metro dog is on its way to better days.

Tanner the dog was rescued from a Blue Summit resident who claimed to be an animal rescuer but who was actually a hoarder. Of the 131 dogs found in the home, only seven - including Tanner - survived.

But Tanner didn't escape some serious injuries, including three spinal fractures which have left him unable to use his hind legs.

Tanner's new owner left Kansas City for Colorado on Thursday morning, where he will be treated for his injuries.
