Kidnapped Boy’s Family Members Now in St. Louis Jail

ST. LOUIS — Jeffrey Stone, 33, the father who police say kidnapped his son Porter from a St. Louis hospital, arrived in St. Louis and was processed at the police station Thursday night.

Also extradited from the Chicago area were his mother, Rhonda Matthews, and Stone’s sister, Heather Minton, 37, of Chico, Calif.  On Tuesday, April 24, Porter had just been released from Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, to go home to await heart transplant surgery when police say the three kidnapped the boy and drove him to Chicago.

The three are charged with kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a child.

Alsip and Illinois State Police located 5-year-old Porter Stone with his father, his grandmother and aunt at the Baymont Inn outside Chicago on Wednesday, April 25.

Porter lives with his mother, Tiffany Stone, in St. Joseph and is on IV medication.
