Man Charged in Cab Driver Robbery Case

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri, man has been charged in connection to the robbery of a cab driver earlier this week, prosecutors said on Friday.

Thomas D. Clegg, 28, faces first-degree robbery and armed criminal action charges in connection to the robbery of a cab driver near 31st and Prospect on Wednesday night.

According to police, Clegg allegedly robbed the cab driver and then stole his cab, which was found at an area restaurant about 30 minutes later. Clegg was arrested at the restaurant after allegedly fighting with officers, who used a taser.

Police say that Clegg had a loaded handgun in his pants, as well as the victim’s cell phone.

Clegg is in custody at the Jackson County Jail. Prosecutors have requested a $100,000 cash-only bond.
