KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Zoo announces the birth of four new Red River Hog piglets, which came into the world on Monday, April 23.

Take a look at the picture and see if you see what the zoo sees when it describes these piglets as “little black, cream, and red watermelons with wiry pink tails, Spock ears and button snouts”.

The four newborns made their public debut at the Kansas City Zoo in Africa on Thursday. They will nurse from mom, Binti for at least three months. Their father’s name is Runty. He is already quick to come to the defense of the piglets and keep them within eyesight of Binti.

The zoo says pig milk has nearly double the fat of cow or human milk so they will grow quickly. Mom and dad weigh around a healthy 150 pounds each.

The Kansas City Zoo is open 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. weekdays; 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. weekends.
