LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Lawrence police are using K-9 teams to search for a Lawrence man missing since Saturday.  Yelekal "Kal" Alemu, 23,  never made it to a family reunion in Olathe Saturday afternoon.

Police found his car in a remote area of Douglas County southeast of Lawrence.  That's where police dogs have focused their search but detectives admit they've found no new clues.

Alemu graduated from Oalthe South High School and attended the University of Kansas up until December of 2011 but did not graduate. Relatives have been keeping vigil at his parents house in Olathe. His mother issued a plea.

" Please anybody who knows about Kal let us know a little hint," said  Helen Alemu. I want him to be alive where ever he's at. I just want to hear that he's okay, that's only my goal."

Kal Alemu is 5'10 and 170 pounds.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Lawrence Police Department at 785-832-7509.
