SECRET WORLD OF ARRIETTY

RUSS
This sweet-natured adaptation of the children's book "The Borrowers" is an artfully crafted old-school, hand-drawn animated flick from Japan. Visually, it's a lovely break from the computer animated graphics we've become accustomed to. But it may be a bit too slow moving for many of the very young in the audience it aims for.

SHAWN
This is classic old school animation that feature a well written and intended story. Loved it. the extras are spectacular and plentiful including the original Japanese trailers and television commercial.

THIS MEANS WAR
SHAWN
The fact that there are three alternate endings on the "This Means War" DVD release is a clear indicator how bad this movie is. It's also poorly written, directed and acted. And the entire premise is garbage.

RUSS
This awkward romantic comedy bears the telltale signs of post-production tinkering. The way it's been edited, it plays like huge chunks of the movie have been excised without rhyme or reason...by someone other than the director. As a result, this tale of two spies vying for the affections of one woman is jarringly disjointed.

SHAWN
And jarringly miscast. Reese Witherspoon is terrible. The two male leads are tragically bad. The whole thing is a mess. Think the Bermuda Triangle not love triangle. The extras a re equally as bad. This is an overall yuk.

THE WOMAN IN BLACK

RUSS
So, can Daniel Radcliff's career survive after the end of the Harry Potter series? Judging by his acting chops in the old school ghost story flick, "The Woman in Black," the answer is probably, "Yes."

SHAWN
Sleepy, over artsy and not scary. Is this a period drama or a horror flick. Wait it's both. But it's all so uninteresting you'll start daydreaming about "Paranormal Activity" or "Saw 47."

RUSS
There are a lot of creaky doors, fleeting shadows and predictable 'gotcha' moments in this adaptation of the famous novel and long running play. But it is very atmospheric and has a terrific cast of British veterans who give it more gravitas than it may deserve.

SHAWN
"The Woman in Black" is just too bland to matter. So are the extras...RUSS

RED TAILS

SHAWN
George Lucas spent his own money to produce "Red Tails." Commendable. But. It's a nice history lesson with razor sharp effects. But the story and acting check in at grade school levels. The story of the Tuskegee airmen deserves a better movie. Actually the extra are excellent and provide better insight than the actual movie.
