INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -- Independence Police are investigating the death of a man, found late Sunday morning in the 600 block of East Zaun.

Police were called out to a duplex at the location at about 11:00 a.m. on a possible shooting. When they went inside the home they found the man, whose identity has not been released. Police say they have identified all parties involved in the shooting. They say the shooter and victim knew each other and police are not looking for any other suspects at this time.

FOX 4 spoke to a man who did not want to go on camera, but who says his brother lives in the duplex unit and was being questioned at the police station. Neighbors thought a man, woman, and possibly two children lived in the unit.

Police towed away a green Dodge Stratus from the scene. Neighbors say they hadn't seen that car in the area before.

"You hear about it all over the news an you never think it's gonna happen across the street from your own house," said Brad Bellamy, a neighbor who has lived in the area four years.

This has been the third shooting incident in the City of Independence since approximately 1:00 a.m. on Sunday. Police say the shootings do not appear to be related. If anyone has information about any of the shootings this weekend please call the Crime Stoppers TIPS hotline or the Independence Police Department's Criminal Investigations Unit at 816-325-7335.
