Video: Peek-a-boo Goes Wrong when Man Locks Child in Washing Machine
CAMDEN, N.J. — A man trying to have a little fun at the laundromat with his toddler made a bad decision when he put the boy in the washing machine — and the machine turned on. But police don’t expect to press charges.
The incident occurred May 11 and was captured by a surveillance camera, which shows the panic erupting. The video shows the man picking up the boy and placing him into the empty machine. He then closes the door. The woman, standing nearby, does not object.
But when they realize the door is locked and the machine starts agitating, both grown-ups become frantic. They tug on the door. The woman claps her hands at laundromat workers while the man jumps up and down in panic. An employee rushed over, shoved tables out of the way and turned off the circuit, but safety locks prevented the door from being opened right away. Sixty seconds after the machine turned off the door was unlocked. The toddler was in the machine about 90 seconds and was taken to a hospital. He is expected to be okay.
