KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City Missouri Police are looking for clues into who killed a 24-year-old woman while she was working at her motel clerk job early Sunday morning.
Kassandra Peters was working the late night shift at the Travelers Inn at 31st & White when someone shot her.
According to police, at about 1:00 a.m., they received a call reporting gunshots.
When they arrived, they found Kassandra Peters, 24, suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to an area hospital where she later died.
The victim's mother says she was always a happy person. She said her daughter was concerned about safety as she worked at the hotel, but she hoped the job was temporary. She was interested in becoming a nurse's aid.
"She had big plans," the victim's mother said. "She loved people and people loved her."
Police don't have much of a description of the suspects. Even though there are cameras in the motel lobby, it is unclear if they were recording at the time of the shooting.
In March, another person- a man- was found beaten to death in the hallway of the motel. Police made an arrest in that crime.
