Natural Gas Leak Closes Westport Road

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —  A stretch of Westport Road in Midtown Kansas City is closed following a natural gas leak, authorities said on Wednesday.

According to officials, Kansas City Fire Department and Missouri Gas Energy crews are working on repairing the gas leak near Westport Road and Broadway. The Bank of America building at that intersection has been evacuated as a precaution, and Westport Road has been closed from Broadway east to Central Street.

There is no word on the cause of the gas leak, or when repairs may be complete.
