Man Faces Attempted Murder Charge Following Lenexa Shooting

LENEXA, Kan. — A 39-year-old Gardner, Kansas, man faces attempted murder charges after he allegedly shot at his ex-girlfriend and another man with a shotgun at a Lenexa apartment building.

Justin Lester Moore faces first-degree attempted murder and aggravated assault charges in connection to the incident on Monday evening at the Wind River Lodge Apartments at 919 Lichtenauer Drive.

According to police, Moore confronted his 32-year-old ex-girlfriend and a 43-year-old man in the parking lot of the complex, believing that the two were romantically-linked.

Police say that Moore pointed a shotgun at the female victim and fired, but missed as she ran away. He then allegedly pointed the shotgun at the male victim, but did not fire.

Moore fled the scene, but was later apprehended in Gardner. He is now in custody at the Johnson County Jail. There is no word on bond.
