4-year-old Wounded During Shootout
KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A 4-year-old is recovering from a gunshot wound after getting caught in the cross-fire of a drive-by shooting.
The shooting happened around 8 p.m. on Saturday night near 17th & Parallel in Kansas City, Kan.
Authorities say that a child was playing outside the family’s home when two cars heading east on Parallel started shooting at each other. One turned to make a u-turn on 17th street, while bullets were still flying.
An adult who was trying to shield the child was shot in the hand. The boy was shot in the stomach. He is in serious condition at an area hospital.
Police recovered one of the cars involved in the shooting at 57th & Kaw Drive.
No one is in custody at this time.
