LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- Between our phones and computers we are constantly connected. But a new web series is taking that idea to the extreme. Taking us into the future where humans are hardwired to the internet. What could possibly go wrong?

This summer producer Bryan Singer is swapping the big screen for YouTube.

"What I really wanted to do was create a piece of elegant cinematic programming for the web," says Singer. "Unlike a television series where you have to go into syndication and find different networks to broadcast this, this just goes out to everyone".

The live action web series is called "H+ The Digital Series". It gives vieweres a sneak peek into the future.

"A new step is being offered to the viewers which is this ability to watch it in whatever sequence they want," explains an actor from the show Alexis Denisof.

The series takes viewers to a time where humans are hardwired to the Internet, connecting them to the web at all times.

Actress Hannah Simone says, "The great thing about this series is that it asks the questions, well what if something goes wrong".

And wrong is exactly what hapens. When a virus is released, a third of the world's popuation is wiped out.

Singer says, "You know there's good and bad with any technology. There's no stopping technology. Technology is coming".

H+ tells the stories of those affected by the virus and their fight for survival.

"It takes it completely to that next step where it's within you. And this technology is very private," explains Simone.

Viewers can watch the episodes in any order, follow specific character storylines and create their own personal playlists.

"It engages the viewer in a way that film and television hasn't done before," says Denisof.

Simone says, "For me, I might not be the most sci-fi inclined person, but I loved the stories and the choices and the human mistakes that are made."
