KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Financial troubles have temporarily shut down several Phillips 66 gas stations in Kansas City.
Prior to that finding, Phillips 66 announced Sunday night it would suspend operations at its 247,000 barrel-a-day Alliance refinery in Belle Chasse, La., before Tropical Storm Isaac made landfall. It's expected the refinery will be completely shut down by Monday night.
In Kansas City several Phillips 66 gas stations were reportedly not selling gas on Monday. Calls to several gas stations were answered with "no comment." However, yellow bags were seen on pumps at several locations indicating gas was not being sold. Notes taped to pumps read: "We are out of mid-grade and regular unleaded fuel at this time. Sorry for the inconvenience."
Alissa Hicks with Phillips 66 said PCF Saleco owns Phillips 66 gas stations and PCF Saleco is having financial difficulties. Because of that, they're choosing to close some of their stores temporarily. Hicks said Phillips 66 does not operate any of the stores that bear their company name.
Hicks said the closing of the PCF Saleco stores is unrelated to the refinery closing in Belle Chasse.
