Teenager Killed in Shooting That Gunman Says Was Self-Defense

Michael Wilson was shot and killed on Tuesday, Sept. 11 in Kansas City, Mo. The person who shot him told police he fired in self-defense.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Mo., police have identified the victim of a deadly shooting. Police said Michael Wilson, 18, was shot and killed Tuesday in the 9400 block of Cleveland. Authorities said the gunman immediately called 911 and said he shot a man in self-defense.

Michael Wilson, 18, was found lying in the street when police arrived. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Darin Snapp with the Kansas City Police Department said detectives are interviewing the suspect and ask anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816.474.TIPS or to text 274 637 and include the code TIP452 in the message. All calls and texts remain anonymous.
