KANSAS CITY, Mo. --  Monday it was another game at Hartman Park in Lee's Summit for members of the "Above the Law" women's softball team. However, friends say the game just wasn't the same because a top player, named Renee Bruce, was missing.

"There's a missing hole," Brenda Foreman says about her 41-year-old friend.. "She's very sweet, hilarious and always lifting our spirits," Foreman adds.

Two weeks ago, investigators say Bruce, a part-time, royals parking lot attendant and mother of two, was critically wounded after being shot by her boyfriend  outside Kauffman Stadium. The suspect died at the scene. Renee Bruce remains hospitalized.

"It was just sad, really sad for all of us," says Bruce's softball coach, Tim Robins, II about the tragic incident.

During Monday's game, Bruce's teammates remained strong on the field for her.
They're relieved her condition has improved and that their friend is now listed in fair condition. However, they know it will be a while before "number 29" is back on the field, playing the game she loves.

"We love you! We miss you! Get well soon and come back and play ball," shouted Bruce's team.
