One Dead in Early Morning I-70 Crash

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Authorities say that one person was killed in a crash on I-70 near I-470 early Monday morning.

According to Independence Police, a 1999 Toyota Corolla was travelling westbound on I-70 at the I-470 interchange around 4:30 a.m. when it left the roadway west of I-470 and partially overturned.

The driver, an unidentified male, was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A 25-year-old female passenger and a male infant passenger were also transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of family.
