KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Ramikka Marshall lives right near the intersection of North 48th and Washington in Kansas City, Kan. where the shootout happened. At 11:00 this morning, she couldn't believe what she heard.
"I wasn't watching it. I was ducking because the voices came and shortly after was the shots, and that's when I ducked and got away from the window."
Ramikka Marshall heard voices, then she heard gunshots Monday morning inside her Kansas City, Kan. home. She doesn't know what the commotion was about.
Police said it was a rolling gun battle. Police said two vehicles were involved in the battle, and one of the passengers was hit. He later died. That news saddens Marshall, and causes even more concern.
"It could have been any of us. Bullets does not have eyes on it, and being this close to residential homes, the suspects obviously did not care for that," Marshall said.
Marshall says this is a neighborhood with lots of families, and there's even an elementary school just down the street.
"It's normally a ton of kids out here. A ton of kids," Marshall said. "I was pretty much glad that it was first thing in the morning and not in the evening when the kids are out of school."
If you have any information on this shooting, you're asked to call the TIPS Hotline. 816-474-TIPS.
