KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police are investigating after an early-morning car chase that began in Gladstone and ended in a wreck in Kansas City, Missouri, that sent a suspect to the hospital.
According to police, Gladstone Police were chasing a suspect vehicle when the crash occurred near NE 72nd Street and N. Brighton shortly before 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
Driver Belenda Camren was taken from the scene to an area hospital with a broken ankle. According to police, the chase started after Camren allegedly nearly hit a woman in the parking lot of a Walmart on North Antioch Road.
Gladstone Police say that Camren, who had outstanding warrants for robbery and aggravated battery, was driving a stolen car with stolen license plates during the pursuit, which reached speeds of up to 100 mph before the she crashed into a tree.
Camren had to be cut out of the vehicle by rescuers. Formal charges have not yet been filed in connection to the chase, but police say that Camren could face first-degree assault charges, among others.
