Sugary Drinks Can Trigger Weight-Gaining Genetics

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Three new studies provide evidence for the first time that sugary drinks are a cause of obesity.  Previous research had only found an association.

The research suggests the drinks cause obesity not only with their calories but also by triggering genetic changes that make us more likely to gain weight.

Fox 4 Medical Reporter Meryl Lin McKean talked with Sally Berry, a registered dietitian with Bodyfuel in Overland Park about how you can get off the sugary stuff.
