KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Richard Simmons brought his energetic message of healthy living to Kansas City on Thursday. Simmons was at the Move Into Fall event, sponsored by North Kansas City Hospital.

Simmons motivated fans but also addressed a serious subject.

“A lot of people don’t take care of themselves, and this is serious,” he said. “A lot of people don’t [get] a physical because they’re afraid to find out what’s wrong.”

But Simmons said it’s important to be proactive when it comes to your health — and to have a positive attitude, something Simmons is known for.

“You have to face the facts that every day that we’re here is a blessing,” he said.

Simmons said his philosophies include loving yourself, moving your body and watching portion sizes.
