KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Police made an arrest in the murder of a 17-year-old boy, killed Sunday when someone drove by and opened fire on the car he was in.
Although police have not released the name of the suspect they have in custody, family members of Ramon Bradley said police did notify them Thursday that an arrest was made.
"Relief. Honestly, I'm shocked that all of this unfolded so swiftly," said Ramona Bradley, mother. "His funeral hasn't even been completely planned, his obituary hasn't even been completed."
Ramon was in a car near Third and Minnesota when someone in a passing car started shooting. He was the only one hit.
Ramona said she doesn't recognize the man police arrested and doesn't believe her son was the intended target. Earlier in the night Ramon had been at a party at the John F. Kennedy Community Center.
"I'm angry," she said. "I'm angry and more than anything I just want to know why. That is my main question: Why? What was the reason he was shooting at their vehicle?"
Ramona said she plans to be in court if the case goes to trial, and hopes she gets the answer.
