KANSAS CITY, Mo. — New information is coming in every few minutes related to the Kansas City area’s winter storm.

At KCI, 26 flights were canceled on Thursday. Ten flights that were expected to leave from KCI between 4 a.m. and 1 p.m. were delayed. Only three flights were on time Thursday morning.
The I-70 westbound closure– 3 tractor trailer trucks involved in the wreck near Oak Grove.
From Bill Hurrelbrink: I-70 WB near Oak Grove CLOSED–Mile Marker 28.2 All lanes closed.
From FOX 4’s Matt Stewart, who has been out in the wintry elements all morning: He says it’s actually looking better. He’s near I-35 & 291 Hwy. He has seen plows coming every 15 minutes.
The city of Blue Springs is now in Phase One of snow removal– they have 17 trucks clearing snow and ice from heavily traveled roadways. They are spreading de-icing chemicals.
I-35 near Cameron still very slow– because of jack-knifed semis, Bill Hurrelbrink reports.
KC ATA is reporting that all routes are behind by about 30 minutes now.

Here’s a picture of eastbound I-70 on the turnpike near Tonganoxie from Facebook friend Jess Coffey. A semi slid off the highway and blocked traffic for a while this morning, but Jess reported at 7:30 a.m. that traffic was moving again.
KCPL reported about 30,000 customers without power.
