KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City’s largest animal welfare agency just got bigger — and better.

Wayside Waifs just completed a $5.7 million renovation and expansion.

The 11,000 square foot facility now boasts a state-of-the-art veterinary clinic, new admissions area with private space and animal holding and an isolation area allowing for better disease prevention.

“It means that animals who come to wayside will get the best treatment in a state of the art facility and people who are adopting animals know they’ve gotten the best care,” President Cynthia Smith said.

The new veterinary clinic now has two full-time and one part-time vet to help care for animals from many different agencies in need of care.

The renovation and expansion was paid for by community donors.
