Prosecutors Charge Man, 24, in Drug Deal Shooting Death

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Prosecutors said it was a drug deal gone bad and have charged a 24-year-old man with second degree murder.

Kelvin Taylor is accused in the shooting death of 28-year-old Brandon Sloan, prosecutors said Saturday.

The shooting happened Tuesday near Blue Ridge Boulevard and Loma Vista Drive.

According to court records, witnesses told police Taylor was one of two men who went to Sloan’s home and pulled out a gun while trying to purchase drugs.

In addition to the murder charge, Taylor faces robbery and armed criminal action charges, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors have requested Taylor to be held on a $250,000 bond.
