Carjacking Suspect Arrested in Cass County

LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. -- One suspect is in custody following an armed carjacking incident in Lee's Summit early Friday morning.

Robert J. Rule, 19, faces four felony counts in connection to an attempted carjacking early Friday morning in Lee's Summit and an earlier carjacking that happened in Independence.

According to police, Rule allegedly tried to carjack a vehicle at a 7-11 gas station in the 900 block of SW Oldham Parkway around 3:15 a.m. Police say that the suspect and the victim struggled as the vehicle pulled away from the gas station, and the vehicle eventually ran off the road.

The suspect then fled from the stolen vehicle into a waiting vehicle. Police were later able to track Rule to a home in Cass County, where he was taken into custody by Cass County Sheriff's deputies and officers from the Belton Police Department.

Bond is set at $200,000.

Two other men were arrested at Centerpoint Medical Center earlier in the morning. Police believe they were with Rule on the crime spree that including stops in Belton, Lee's Summit, and Independence. Police Say multiple vehicles were stolen though the early morning.
