OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Business is booming in Overland Park and if you're shopping for a job, there's great news.
Hy-Vee is opening a brand news store at the intersection of 95th street and Antioch.
The new store means two others will close. The 91st street location closed its doors last month and 95th and Quivira will close in a few weeks.
No jobs will be lost, all employees from those stores can transfer to the new one. In fact, Hy-Vee is hiring at least 150 more people because the store is so big and is expected to be very busy.
Store manager Russ Johnson is excited.
"it's going to take a lot of bodies to keep this facility going and have all the friendly smiles we need all the time in the aisles to take care of all the great customers," Johnson said.
The new HyVee is another piece in the revitalization of the busy intersection.
Across the street, several new businesses moved in next to established one that stuck it out through renovations. Among them, Johnny Brusco's Pizza.
David Hall's family owns two stores. The initial location is farther south on 135th street.
Business was good and the family decided to expand.
"We looked for a while at different locations in Overland Park and this corner just seemed to make a lot of sense for us," David Hall explained.
Hall is excited to see the shopping center fill up and is ready for the new HyVee to open.
