Wal-mart Rations Ammunition Sales
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — With demand surging and supply low, the world’s largest retailer is rationing sales of ammunition.
The new limitations mean customers can buy only three boxes of ammunition per day at Wal-mart stores.
Walmart says supply is limited because people are trying to buy as much as they can because they fear new gun control legislation will restrict their purchases.
In November and December, the number of firearm background checks jumped noticeably. Those two months alone accounted for a quarter of the checks in 2012. According to the F-B-I, background checks were at their highest levels in 15 years during these months.
Wal-Mart says it is working with suppliers to get more ammo in its stores to meet the stepped up demand.
