KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Think you could travel to Chicago faster by train or by car? A group of guys from Kansas City found out in their Road vs. Rails "race" from KC to the Windy City.

Matthew Staub traveled on Amtrak's Southwest Chief, while Kris Nielsen drove a Jaguar from Aristocrat Motors. The race ended at Chicago's Millennium Park.

Many followed the race on twitter.... and when they discovered the winner was..... THE JAG... (arriving at 3:07 p.m.), train fans were pretty good sports about their loss.

Follow their progress via the map below, created by Tyler Hillsman. Updates were made at the top of every hour.

The idea for the race formed after a little friendly banter on Twitter -- each arguing their preferred mode of transportation would be quicker. The group documented their journey on Twitter: #roadvsrails

The contenders:
Matthew Staub: @staubio
Kris Nielsen: @krisnielsenkc
Jason Cupp: @jasoncupp
