SHAWNEE, Kan. — The city of Shawnee has been awarded $560,000 in state funding for intersection improvements at Shawnee Mission Parkway and Woodland Drive.

Improvements include “decreasing vehicle delay” and “air pollutant emissions” at the intersection, a news release said.

In addition, preliminary designs include moving the traffic signal to make space for another southbound left turn lane and a new northbound turn lane.

The project is expected to begin next year at an estimated cost around $700,000.
