KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Northland couple charged with handcuffing a 17-year-old boy to a pole in their basement entered a not guilty plea in a Clay County court on Wednesday.

David and Pamela Martin both requested public defenders. On Wednesday they heard the charges against them: felonious restraint and a felony child abuse charge. They'll remain in jail on a $50,000 bond. If convicted, they could face up to seven years in prison.
