SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Whoops. That’s embarrassing. A misspelling on campus book bags reddened cheeks on the Missouri State University campus. The word ‘university’ was spelled ‘univeristy.’

According to the Springfield News-Leader, the university spent $79,844 for 17,800 book bags. Six thousands were handed out last month, an additional 2,500 were destroyed.

The mistake wasn’t discovered until a few hundred bags were given out. According to the Springfield News-Leader, Earle Dorman, MSU vice president of student affairs, said the decisions to continue hand out the bags even after the mistake was discovered was made by bookstore staff who did not consult with bookstore management.
