KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- He pretended to be a Good Samaritan, helping a driver stranded in the snow. What he turned out to be was a car thief.
As Scott Faubion shoveled around his car in his Northland neighborhood, a stranger offered to help.
The man told Faubion he would help shovel the snow to free the car if Faubion would drive him to a nearby Super 8 Motel. Faubion said he didn't want to make his rescuer do all the heavy work, so he let the man get behind the wheel.
And that's when things went south -- quickly.
"He managed to get up the hill and he was gone with my car. I walked up to the top of the hill thinking he was waiting for me and he was gone," Faubion said.
Kansas City, Mo., police say they are looking for a 2012 Black Kia with Missouri license plate MC7-M6C.
