Chiefs release Eric Winston

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Thursday that the club has released offensive lineman Eric Winston.

Winston (6-7, 302) started 16 games for the Chiefs in 2012 including 15 at right tackle and one contest at right guard. He has seen action in 108 career games (103 starts) with Houston (2006-11) and Kansas City (2012). He has blocked for three individual 1,000-yard rushers in his seven seasons in the NFL.

The Midland, Tex., native originally entered the league as a third-round draft pick (66th overall) of the Houston Texans in the 2006 NFL Draft. Winston was an All-American at the University of Miami and prepped at Midland High School.
