Police: Minor traffic violation leads to arrest of man who ran off with 13-year-old KC girl
ST. CHARLES, Mo. — A minor traffic violation led to the arrest of a 21-year-old man who has since been charged with enticing a child, sexual misconduct and first-degree endangerment of a child.
Police said on Feb. 27 Dominique Carter was pulled over after he failed to use his blinker. A Sheriff’s deputy noticed there was a young girl in the car. When asked why, prosecutors said Carter told police he was giving her a ride. The deputy became suspicious and discovered the girl was 13 years old and from Kansas City. Police said she had sneaked out of her home after her parents had fallen asleep and left with Carter, whom she had met over a smart phone dating app called Meet 24. Police also learned the two had exchanged nude photographs.
“To me, the takeaway for parents of kids and other caregivers of teenagers and even pre-teens, is just be vigilant,” said Tim Lohmar, St. Charles County prosecutor. “You have to know what`s going on with their social media contacts at all times.”
Carter has been convicted of burglary in Jackson County, Cass County and Lafayette County. If convicted of the latest charges of sexual misconduct and child endangerment, he could spend the next 30 years in prison.
