KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A National Hispanic civil rights group will bring its convention to Kansas City in 2015.

The National Council of La Raza announced on Monday they will bring their 2015 convention to the metro, and it will be hosted by Bartle Hall.

La Raza had planned to have their convention in Kansas City in 2009 but pulled out in protest after former Mayor Mark Funkhouser appointed a member of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps to Kansas City's parks board.

The convention is expected to bring millions of dollars to Kansas City's economy and will fill thousands of hotel rooms.
