KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The KC Strip is shutting down. Having served Kansas City's weekend entertainment districts for three years, the trolley venture will soon end due to a lack of interest from riders and establishments on the route.

The trolley took people to 10 different entertainment districts, including the No. 1 hot spot, the Power and Light District.

According to the Kansas City Star, the chief executive officer of the Kansas City Transportation Group, Bill George, blames Cordish Co. and its affiliated company ECI. George said ECI no longer wanted its information listed in KCStrip guides.

The executive director of the Power and Light District, Nick Benjamin, said it's unfortunate the trolley will cease to run especially since the trolley service was originally created to help get customers to different restaurants across town.

"We were saddened and disappointed to hear that they are shutting down," he said.

George said the Power and Light District was the trolley's No. 1 destination and without cooperation from those restaurants, he couldn't see the trolley service surviving.
There's no word on when the trolley will shut down.
