BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The FBI Birmingham Citizens Academy Alumni Association announced Tuesday they have set up a memorial fund for the Bresette family.

Donations can be made online on the group’s website, www.fbicaaa-bham.org. As of Tuesday, $1,900 had been raised, the group said.

“The Birmingham Chapter of the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association is saddened by the tragic events of last Friday evening at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport that befell the Bresette family as they visited our city,” said Andrew Smith president of the FBI Birmingham Citizens Academy Alumni Association.

Heather Bresette, from Overland Park, Kan., and her 5 children were walking past a large flight information display when it fell away from a wall seriously injuring her, fatally injuring her 10-year old son Luke, injuring her 8-year old son Sam and injuring her 5-year old son Tyler. Her other children, Anna and Joe, were unharmed.

Ryan Bresette, her husband, a graduate of the FBI Citizens Academy and a member of the FBI Kansas City Citizens Academy Alumni Association, was at the airport but not near the incident location when it occurred.
