INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  — Louisville guard Kevin Ware suffered a broken leg during Sunday’s afternoon’s Midwest Regional Final game against Duke.

Ware’s leg was bent at such a gruesome angle that CBS stopped showing replays after airing it twice.

The bone’s 6 inches out of his leg and all he’s yelling is, `Win the game, win the game,” coach Pitino said. “I’ve not seen that in my life. … Pretty special young man.”

As the crowd sat in stunned silence, Ware was immediately treated by a medical crew before being lifted on a stetcher.  As he was being wheeled out of the Lucas Oil Stadium, a cheers for the injured player rocked the arena by fans of both sides.

School officials said that Ware was taken to the Methodist Hospital with a lower right leg that’s broken in two spots.

Ware is reported to be resting comfortably.
