Family, friends remember slain teen in vigil

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Tears and prayers Thursday evening for a 14-year-old shot and killed Saturday afternoon as dozens gathered to remember Miguel Garcia.

Relatives sang a hymn in Spanish and then led everyone in praying the rosary.

Among the crowd of family and friends were many neighborhood residents who never knew Miguel, but wanted to be there to support the family.

Also in attendance, Several Kansas City, Kan., police officers. Miguel’s murder remains unsolved and there were some concerns of more violence on Thursday evening, but all was quiet and those grieving were allowed to pay their respects in peace.
