KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Jackson County Detention Center and the Regional Corrections Center spent Friday morning running on emergency power after experiencing an outage.

Dan Ferguson, Jackson County public information officer, said safety was not compromised and no incidents were reported. Operations remained normal while the facilities ran on emergency power sources.

Kansas City Power and Light repaired the problem shortly after 1 p.m. A transformer that malfunctioned in the initial power outage complicated repairs.

Two maintenance employees sustained minor injuries, but they were treated and released from an area hospital.

Visitation was temporarily canceled until power could be fully restored.
