BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. -- Three years ago, more than 50,00 people visited "The Wall That Heals" display near Blue Springs.

When the half scale Vietnam War memorial moved on, community members expressed interest in having a permanent memorial erected for veterans.

For those who served.  The Veterans Way memorial is dedicated to the sacrifice and courage of all veterans who served our nation.

Pink Hill Park in Blue Springs is now home to a permanent place of reflection and recognition.

"It will be a destination for veterans.  As they are coming down Highway 70, they will know that there is a memorial here," said Eleanor Frasier, chairperson of the memorial.

It is a memorial for veterans of all wars and all branches of the military.

During the dedication ceremony, veterans from each branch in attendance were recognized.

At the center of the memorial, the phrase "Restless Recovery" is inscribed.

The momument resembles the half scale Vietnam War memorial that visited Blue Springs in 2010.

"The black granite ties in to 'The Wall That Heals' that was here a few years ago.  It was  all made out of black granite material and that goes back to Vietnam memorial back in D.C., " said Rick Howell, the landscape architect for the project.

In front of the monument, a reflection bench featuring the insignias of the five U.S. military branches.

"It's just a beautiful monument and I think it's going to be well accepted by the community," Jerry Planz, a veteran told FOX 4 News.
