Joe’s Wx Blog: More rain ahead!
Before I get to the wet weather coming our way tomorrow, and yes it may impact the Royals game tomorrow evening…I wanted to tell you that Mike Thompson and I will be doing a live interview with Reed Timmer tonight starting @ 7PM via Skype. Go to tvnweather.com for more information about that this evening…again that starts @ 7PM. Reed will be bring all 3 Dominators to School Day At The K next Thursday and will also be making a presentation for the KC AMS next Wednesday night @ Ameristar Casino. IF you are interested in hearing his presentation next Wednesday go to the KC AMS website for details on his talk. He will be speaking about the perils of Tornado chasing and showing some new tools he’ll be using this season…whenever this season really gets started that is.
Of course you can still take the kids out to School Day At The K as well…that’s next Thursday @ 10AM.
As far as the weather goes, we broke a record low this AM @ KCI…down to 33° breaking the record of 34°. St Joe dropped to 31° breaking their record as well of 34°.
Our great weather today will be replaced by dreary weather tomorrow as a storm in the SW part of the country starts to head our way. This storm will bring more soaking rainfall into the region with amounts that may range from 1/4″ up to about 1″ or so. This will continue to improve our drought situation. As a matter of fact the drought has now been eliminated for most of the region from KC southwards according to the latest drought report. There are still areas in NW MO under moderate drought conditions. More on this tomorrow.
The storm in question is in the SW part of the country.
As it moves our way, showers will break out tomorrow AM and become more widespread in the PM hours. Here are the forecasted totals off the hi-res NAM.
The rain may linger into SAT AM thanks to the slow progress of the storm, at this point Sunday looks to be the better of the 2 weekend days and early next week should be really nice. later next week though may not be and there are many questions about the evolution of our next storm and the timing of said storm. One thing appears likely and that is another chance of a frost later next week, perhaps Friday AM.
More on that possibility next week.
