Woman charged with stealing car with kids inside

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A Kansas City, Kan., woman is charged with stealing a car and putting the two children inside in danger.

Brittany McKinley is charged with burglary, theft and endangering a child.

It happened Monday evening near 18th and Parallel. Police say McKinley stole an SUV from a gas station that had children inside.

The children’s mother left her kids inside while she went inside to pay, police said.

A short time later, McKinley dropped the children off near 12th and Troup. They were not hurt.

Police later found the stolen SUV across the state line near Cleaver and Leeds in Kansas City, Mo.

McKinley is being held on $50,000 bond.
