Abortion doc killer charged with intimidation
EL DORADO, Kan. — The convicted killer of a Wichita abortion doctor is accused of trying to intimidate the woman who reopened that abortion clinic.
It stems from a taped telephone conversation Scott Roeder had with an abortion opponent. That man recorded the call and put it on YouTube.
“it’s almost like putting a target on your back — see if you can shoot me,” one portion of the call said.
According to the Associated Press, Roeder made that call and others from the state prison in El Dorado. He is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Wichita doctor George Tiller.
State prison officials have filed the administrative charge, which stems from a recorded prison call to another abortion opponent in Iowa.
In the call, Roeder says opening that clinic is “death defying” and “like putting a target on your back.”
A hearing will be rescheduled to determine if Roeder is guilty of the prison violation.
If found guilty, Roeder could lose privileges or be given extra work while in prison.
