KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals announced “friend and colleague Fred White passed away due to complications from melanoma,” a tweet said Wednesday.

White, who spent 40 seasons in the Royals’ organization as an announcer, Director of Broadcast Services and the Royals Alumni, passed away earlier Wednesday in hospice care.

It was just Tuesday that reported White was retiring.

There are no details at this time regarding funeral arrangements, the Royals said.

He was 76.
